Who's Marshell?
While searching the Mississippi Census, I came across my maternal grandparents. They had three children. The first two names I recognized. However, the third name was of a baby boy named "Marshell". I knew my mother did not have a brother by this name so I contacted everyone I knew who might have a logical explanation. I received the following explanation from my first cousin:
"Allen Herrington (my grandfather) was a farmer. The year Marshell was born the Governor, whose name was Sennett, made a proclamation which stated that he would give a mule to each family who would name a male child after him. Therefore, Allen changed Marshell to Sennett."
